State Senator Florence Shapiro Earns Statewide Award for Fighting Lawsuit Abuse
(Austin, TX) - Texans for Lawsuit Reform has awarded State Senator Florence Shapiro the TLR Civil Justice Leadership Award for her support of a fair and predictable civil justice system in Texas. Speaking to a luncheon in Plano on Wednesday, TLR President Richard J. Trabulsi said:
“Florence Shapiro is a leader in the Texas Senate on several big issues including the establishment of a fair and balanced civil justice system. She is true to core conservative principles and she pursues them with common sense, uncommon grace and tenacious commitment. She is a leader with the one virtue that anchors all other virtues -- courage. We are proud to present TLR's Civil Justice Award to Senator Shapiro."
TLR’s Civil Justice Leadership Award is presented to lawmakers who take a stand in support of the model lawsuit reforms that are boosting the Texas economy, creating jobs and bringing doctors to every community.
Senator Shapiro is Chairman of the Senate Education Committee and a member of the Finance, Transportation and Homeland Security, and Administration Committees. She has served in the State Senate since 1993. Senate District 8 includes parts of Collin and Dallas Counties.
