More than 300 TLR members and guests came together October 11 in Houston to celebrate civil justice reform successes in the 1995 Texas legislative session and to begin gathering momentum for the 1997 session.

August 1995: Congratulations everyone, we're making great progress!

Said by Governor George Bush to be "the most powerful grassroots campaign ever seen in Texas," the TLR effort helped make possible tens of thousands of letters and phone calls to elected officials in the legislative session. In addition, face-to-face meetings between concerned citizens and their legislators took place throughout the session.

June 1995: Tort Reform Passes

After two years of effort by Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR), hundreds of other groups, and tens of thousands of individual Texans, eight solid tort reform bills passed the 1995 Texas Legislature and have been signed into law by the Governor. These historic reforms mark the first broad-based success since our state's civil justice laws began eroding over two decades ago.
