Trade association needs an attorney. Ideal candidate will have experience drafting legislation, making oral presentations (which might be in the form of testifying before legislative committees, appearing in court, or other similar activities), conducting legal research, and writing publishable-quality legal articles and treatises. Service on law review or another journal in law school, experience in civil litigation in Texas, knowledge of campaign finance laws, and 5+ years’ practicing law are positive attributes, but not required. Job will require in-person advocacy at the Texas Capitol and substantial commitment of time during legislative sessions, but allows flexible schedule in interim.
