Friends,
The Primary Election is in the books. As a few races head to a May Runoff, our broader focus now turns towards November and another high-stakes General Election.
It was a strong night for TLRPAC-endorsed candidates, with dozens of wins at the statewide and district levels. Congratulations to all the TLRPAC-endorsed candidates for running tough campaigns and working hard every day to keep Texas strong. This message is vital as campaigns talk about the common-sense solutions that improve affordability, stop fraud, and keep the Texas Economic Miracle thriving.

This Primary Election saw historic turnouts for Republicans and Democrats. TLRPAC endorsed 95 candidates across the state, with 87 securing the Republican nomination in their respective races. That’s a meaningful impact as we support pro-business candidates who want to stop lawsuit abuse that is hurting businesses and driving up the costs for every Texan.
Congratulations to our statewide endorsed candidates, Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, who all won their primaries. For the governor, it was a week of back-to-back celebrations (more on that below).
In the Texas Legislature, TLRPAC-backed candidates performed well, securing 65 Republican nominations in the House and 11 Republican nominations in the Senate. For more than 30 years, TLR has supported candidates who want to make Texas the best state in which to do business. Tuesday’s election made clear that voters want the same and will support candidates who want to grow jobs, strengthen the economy, and expand prosperity throughout Texas.

On Monday, Bloomberg Law published an OpEd highlighting the tort reform challenges we are facing in Texas. The column highlights how Texas once led civil justice reform but is now falling behind by failing to modernize how medical damages are presented to juries.
Even as Florida’s 2023 reforms show how predictable legal rules can quickly stabilize insurance markets, there are still some who claim tort reform has no impact on affordability. The data—including 30 years of growth under the Texas Economic Miracle—show that stopping lawsuit abuse lowers costs for consumers and businesses.
So, what can we do? Click here to read the full column and learn more about how Texas can abolish the hidden tort tax driving up the cost of living for everyone.

On Monday, Texas celebrated its 190th anniversary of Independence from Mexico. The Governor also celebrated the state’s 14th consecutive Governor’s Cup award from Site Selection magazine. It’s the 17th cup Texas has earned since 2000 for economic development, job growth, and leadership in strengthening the Texas Economic Miracle.
Congratulations to Governor Greg Abbott and all those working to make Texas the best state in which to do business.
