LSEA Welcomes Senate Passage of SB 39

LSEA Welcomes Senate Passage of SB 39

April 25, 2025

TLR is calling attention to the following press release issued today by the Lone Star Economic Alliance (LSEA), of which TLR is a founding member:

The Lone Star Economic Alliance (LSEA) issued the following statement upon passage yesterday of Senate Bill (SB) 39 by the full Senate:

“We applaud Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and Senator Brian Birdwell for their strong leadership in passing vital legislation that will make commercial motor vehicle (CMV) collision lawsuits consistent with existing law, fair for plaintiffs and defendants alike, and uniform across the state.

“Critically, SB 39 will ensure CMV collision trials are focused on determining who is at fault for a collision and awarding fair compensation to Texans injured by the negligence of a CMV driver or owner.

“Texans deserve a fair legal system that protects genuine victims, not bad actors. This is a meaningful step toward necessary reform.”

SB 39 is among Lt. Gov. Patrick’s priority bills for the 2025 Texas Legislative Session. On April 16, LSEA welcomed Senate passage of SB 30 by Sen. Charles Schwertner – another of Lt. Gov. Patrick’s priority bills.
